New York City & Eastern Long Island Travelogue New YouTube Video — Pandemic Family Reunion — Explore My Latino Roots.
Join me as I return to my hometown of New York and reunite with my family for the first time since the Pandemic began. I’m eager to see how the city and Long Island have changed since the pandemic. Many of my neighbors in California asked me over the course of the pandemic whether New York City was basically abandoned and left for dead. It’s a strong a resilient city, and it certainly didn’t’ seem plausible. Despite the “cream of society” flitting off hither and thither to more comfortable places to ride out the pandemic, New York is a massive behemoth of millions of people, going about their lives as best they can. And to it’s credit, New Yorkers for the most part behaved responsibly and made huge progress beating back the virus after the initial first wave.
On my way to the airport and on the plane, the experience seemed almost surreal, after being grounded in the desert for almost a year and a half, and never traveling father than Los Angeles or San Diego in that time frame. I felt more uncertainty than ever before in the years I’ve been flying back and forth between Southern California and New York. After being cocooned in my little bubble in the California Desert, which blessedly hadn’t changed very much in the course of the pandemic, I was afraid of what I might find, and how life might have changed.
Let’s buckle up and see what we find, you can travel right alongside me in my newest YouTube video. Let’s go!
