Let’s visit my favorite SoCal beach town: La Jolla is the gem of the San Diego coastline and my favorite summer getaway destination. This is one of my favorite places in the world, and I’m so excited to share it with you in my latest video. I’ve been taking videos and working on different versions of this video for two years now, and I finally feel like I’ve captured the feeling of an incredible day on the San Diego coastline from start to finish.
We’ll visit the famous Black’s Beach underneath the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines, and tour La Jolla Shores, the most beautiful hamlet of the most beautiful beach town in San Diego. The Pacific Ocean and the San Diego coastline in particular have a very unique rhythm to the day, starting off with the morning mist, and ending in a kaleidoscope of vivid colors during the sunset. After a day on Black’s beach, my favorite beach in the US, I love going down to La Jolla Shores, and we’ll get a chance to tour the sweet little hamlet. And dinner and drinks at my favorite beach bar, is always the perfect ending to the day.
Black’s beach is one of the most famous surf breaks in California, and it’s simply one of the most beautiful beaches as well. The towering tall cliffs loom over the beach and are over 500 feet high, and a total of 52 flights of stairs up and down. On top of the beach is the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course, where the famous Torrey Pines tournament is held, and also the Torrey Pines Gliderport. Between the world-class surfing, the incredible natural beauty of the ocean and the coastline, and the colorful gliders floating above, there’s always something eye-catching and exciting to see all day here. Black’s beach is the only legal clothing optional beach in Southern California, but there is no nudity in this video. The portions of the beach to the north at Torrey Pines State Beach, and to the south at Torrey Pines City Beach are the same beautiful beach, but not clothing optional if you want to avoid that.
The hike up and down the cliff is really the deciding factor as to whether you should visit this beach or not. You can hike and walk from Torrey Pines State Beach to the north, as long as the tides are in you favor. Or you can walk down the paved road starting at La Jolla Farms to the south, and that leads to Torrey Pines City Beach which is a little less than a mile walk north to the clothing optional section. So either way you slice it, you’re going to have to exert some effort getting to and from the beach, but to me it’s so worth it. Climbing up the steps at the end of the day is a great workout, and feels so triumphant when you don’t even need to stop and rest.

A funny thing happened when I started my natural skincare and fragrance company: Desert Mountain Apothecary. I started asking people, men and women, straightforward questions like, “how do you feel about your appearance or skin?” What I could never have predicted, was the wall of pain, that almost each and every person was holding back, and just one simple innocuous question would cause to come crashing down in a torrent of despair and agony. It upset me so much, to know that all of these people who seemingly had everything, many of whom were admired for their youthful good looks, harbored such deep pain and anguish about their appearances. When I prodded more deeply their appearance was a placeholder for the absolute torment and misery they felt about themselves. Something they never revealed, but was always there lurking just under the surface.
I knew there was a different and better way to think, and to literally experience consciousness itself. In the throes of pain and agony, people didn’t want to hear that, I was always told the same thing, “you don’t understand.” What a ridiculous notion that is of course, is there anyone who doesn’t understand feeling bad about themselves? Is there anyone out there who has never felt dissatisfied with their looks? I highly doubt if people are being honest that that is true. As vastly different as we all are, there are many consistencies between people, and feeling less than, feeling different, feeling like you aren’t enough, or that you don’t belong is one of the most persistent feelings in all people.
It was then that I realized, looking good on the outside wasn’t enough. I had created a product that made people look younger. My Oasis oil will very quickly hydrate, plump up, and over time renew and regenerate the skin. But it wasn’t enough, even when people had the physical proof that they looked good, they didn’t feel that way. I realized then that it’s going to take a lot more than smooth, glowing skin to make people feel better, although it helps to look good on the outside, the problem was clearly much deeper down, and much more pernicious. That was when I started researching and learning about our subconscious thoughts, and our unconscious beliefs, and our cognitive distortions that sadly rule our lives. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
That is why I do what I do, I don’t just tell you what you need to hear, I show you through my videos what you can do to make your life better. It may be subtle, it may be innocuous, but just something simple as spending a day on your favorite beach, or taking a hike in the mountains is actually doing a huge service to your mind body and spirit. There is an incredible synergy that occurs when those three things are in alignment, and your mind is learning and expanding, your body is healing and your experience of being in that body is improving, and your spirit is transforming, your experience of living and being conscious radically changes for the better.
